A pipeline worker who has worked in the industry for 53 years is speaking out against President Joe Biden’s cancellation of the Keystone XL pipeline.
“It’s like a kick in the stomach that takes your breath away,” said Guy Williams, who would have been a project inspector, to Steve Doocy on the “Fox & Friends” program on Tuesday. “We have been waiting for this pipeline for 10 years.”
JUSTIN TRUDEAU ‘DISAPPOINTED’ IN BIDEN’S DECISION TO CANCEL KEYSTONE XL PIPELINE
The president signed an executive order last week revoking the March 2019 license for the Keystone XL pipeline. The project was expected to create some 13,000 high-paying union jobs in the U.S. and Canada, according to an October 2020 report.
“The United States must be in a position to exercise vigorous climate leadership to achieve a significant increase in global climate action and put the world on a sustainable climate path,” says the order in part. “Leaving the Keystone XL pipeline license in place would not be consistent with my government’s economic and climate imperatives.”
In response, Williams pointed out several environmental studies by those involved in the project to ensure its safety.
“We did all the environmental studies known to mankind, we did them and we did them again,” said Williams. “Trust me, we’ve done our due diligence.”
“We know what we are doing now. You know, let’s do this, ”he added.

Williams, who is a second-generation pipeline worker, thought of his grandchildren, saying that Biden should “look them in the eye” and tell them about the executive order.
“You come, look them in the face and say, ‘You know, I just, [with] a stroke of the pen, killed eleven thousand well-paid jobs, “” said Williams.

Williams questioned where those who hoped to work on the project could find jobs.
“I have no idea,” said Williams. “I live in a predominantly agricultural community on the Louisiana Delta lands.”
“Basically, there is no industry here,” he added.
