‘Pioneer Woman’ husband Ree Drummond fractured his neck in a fire truck accident

“Pioneer Woman” husband Ree Drummond broke his neck in an injury that was “very close to being catastrophic” but is expected to fully recover, said the famous chef and lifestyle guru on Monday.

Ladd Drummond and nephew Caleb G. Drummond, 21, were battling a forest fire on the family’s huge ranch in northern Oklahoma when their fire trucks collided, officials said.

The severely wounded young Drummond was rushed to the hospital while Ladd suspended treatment there, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

But on Monday, Ree Drummond revealed that her husband later went to the hospital where doctors found that his injuries were much worse than initially believed.

“Caleb broke some ribs, had a very strong concussion and some other wounds that will heal,” wrote Ree Drummond in a statement posted on his website on Monday.

“Ladd (the guy I told you about who went to the hospital?) Broke his neck in two places – and, of course, one of the two fractures was very close to being catastrophic. Did I mention that cowboys don’t like to admit when they’re hurt?”

Ree Drummond thanked Dr. Mohammad Kalani, a neurosurgeon at Ascension St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, for stabilizing her husband’s control and possibly saving her life.

“He will have to wear a neck brace for several weeks to allow the other fracture to heal, and the girls and I are going to bleed the brace for Alex’s wedding,” Drummond wrote of his daughter’s wedding, “but we are grateful for that. be here for Alex’s wedding. “

Drummond Ranch has more than 430,000 acres in Osage County, Oklahoma, about 60 miles north of Tulsa. It is not uncommon for farmers, who live far from large population centers, to own and operate their own fire suppression equipment.

Ree Drummond also thanked the “amazing community of neighboring farmers and cowboys and everyone helps their neighbors whenever a fire starts – so there were friends on the scene to help”.
