Pinellas Adjusting the Vaccine Appointment Process for the Elderly

It has been a frustrating process for many seniors trying to schedule their COVID-19 vaccine appointments.

Now, Pinellas County is making some changes to improve the process.

Instead of having to call and try to make an appointment, the Pinellas Health Department will now contact the elderly when it is their turn to be vaccinated.

Residents need to be registered, however.

Pinellas County began using the new software last month to try to alleviate the problems that people faced with the old system, which it continually crashed.

The new software is still not without problems.

Residents aged 65 and over who have pre-registered will now receive a text message or email once vaccination appointments are available.

Once they receive the message, they will have 48 hours to make appointments for the two doses of the vaccine.

The Municipality will contact only how many people have the vaccines available, in the order they registered. Only a text or email will be sent.
