Pikmin was never one of Nintendo’s main franchises in terms of units sold, but it’s good to know that the most recent entry – Pikmin 3 Deluxe – achieved some degree of commercial success in Japan.

Total physical sales of the game – which is an update to the original Wii U – in Nintendo’s homeland now amount to 513,225 copies, meaning that the title Switch has outperformed sales of the original GameCube Pikmin, which reached 502,996 sales throughout its lifetime, but was later reissued for the Wii.

In contrast, the original Wii U version of Pikmin 3 only managed to move 232,313 units in Japan.
