Lightroom was Adobe’s first creative app to make the leap to the Apple Silicon, and now the long-awaited launch of Photoshop is here. According to the company, Photoshop for Macs M1 completes most tasks 1.5 times faster than when running on Intel. But the speed improvements go beyond the actual edition; Adobe says much on Photoshop should now look faster – including how quickly the application opens.
Photoshop for Apple Silicon was previously in beta, but is now being widely implemented for Creative Cloud customers with a Mac M1: they include the MacBook Air, the basic 13-inch MacBook Pro and the Mac mini “These big performance improvements are just the beginning and we will continue to work together with Apple to further optimize performance over time, ”wrote Pam Clark of Adobe in a blog post.
In this case, “just the beginning” also means that there are a small number of Photoshop features and tricks that have not yet migrated to the Apple Silicon version. According to Clark, this includes recent additions, such as an invitation to edit documents in the cloud and predefined synchronization. “However, the performance gains in the rest of the app were so great that we didn’t want to delay the launch for everyone while the team is working on these latest features,” she added, noting that customers can always switch to using the Intel version of Photoshop (with Rosetta 2) if they need these resources urgently.
Adobe is also bringing new features to Photoshop for iPad: cloud document version history and the ability to work on cloud files offline. Cloud document version history allows you to revert to an old version of a file that is up to 60 days old.
