Earlier this month, as part of its comprehensive Year in Review review, TVLine presented a list of 30 prime-time plot twists that could not possibly being beaten for sheer shock value. In response, during the day he laughed and said simply, “Hold my beer.”

Yes, as they usually do, soap operas worked overtime in 2020 to outperform their nighttime counterparts, displaying more “zombies” than you would see in The walking dead and set more connections in motion than going down any three seasons of The bachelor. A soap even unpacked the genre first living doll first living doll since Passions‘Timmy. So you can understand how what should be a top 10 list quickly expanded to one of the top 20.
