Somewhere Jane Fonda is rreally feeling the burn.

On Friday, Apple TV + pulled back the leg warmers in its next ’80s aerobics drama, with the cover of Rose Byrne Physicist, taking a first look (see above) and an approximate debut date.

Bowing this summer, the 10-episode dark satire shows Byrne playing Sheila Rubin, “a quietly tortured and apparently obedient housewife” who lives in 1980s San Diego and finds an unconventional path to power through a unlikely source: the world of aerobics.

“At first addicted to the exercise itself, Sheila’s real path to empowerment comes when she finds a way to merge this newfound passion with emerging videotape technology to start a revolutionary business,” continues the official description of the program. “The series follows her epic journey from a suffocated and forgotten facilitator to a powerful and confident economic force, while Sheila transforms herself into someone we consider natural today (but was totally radical at the time) – the female lifestyle guru.”

Physicist was created by Annie Weisman (Almost family, The Bold Type), who also acts as a showrunner.

Best known for roles in films such as Bridesmaids, Neighbors and Spy, Byrne also starred alongside Glenn Close in the FX legal drama Damage, receiving two Emmy nominations for her work as a lawyer Ellen Parsons. Most recently, she appeared as feminist pioneer Gloria Steinem in the FX / Hulu miniseries Mrs. America.
