The Metropolitan Police Department on Monday released a photo of the knife carried by the suspect in Friday’s car attack on Capitol Hill.

The suspect, 25-year-old Noah Green, crashed his car into a security barricade at a checkpoint along the fence along Constitution Avenue and struck two Capitol police officers.

Green then supposedly got out of his vehicle with the big knife and launched himself at another Capitol Police officer stationed at the checkpoint. That officer then fatally shot Green.

One of the officers Green hit with his vehicle, William Evans, died at a local hospital on Friday, shortly after the attack. The other Capitol police officer was also hospitalized for injuries, but was later released.

Friday’s attack is still under investigation by the Metropolitan Police, Capitol Police and the FBI Field Office in Washington.

Green’s motives are not entirely clear. A US official told the Associated Press over the weekend that Green had been suffering from delusions, paranoia and suicidal thoughts.

Evans is the second Capitol Police officer to die in an attack on the Capitol this year.
