PHOENIX – A policeman was involved in a serious accident with an apparently wrong driver in Phoenix on Friday morning.
Crews were called to the 26th Street and Cactus Road area at about 6 am for the accident. A police vehicle was seen with serious damage at the scene, along with a white truck.
According to Phoenix police, investigators believe the truck driver was heading in the wrong direction on the west lane of Cactus Road. The driver then hit the westbound police vehicle, police said.
The officer is seriously injured, but is not believed to be fatal.
The truck driver was also said to have suffered serious injuries.
Police said they are investigating the accident and said that disability and speed may have been factors.
ABC15 teams at the scene say Cactus Road is blocked for several blocks due to the investigation.
