Philips Hue announces new wall switch module, dimmer switch and external light bar

Philips Hue announced a new wireless dimmer switch module that allows Hue bridge owners to directly control the intelligent lighting of their standard wall switches.

The new Philips Hue wall switch module is the ideal complement to any Philips Hue configuration. Installed behind existing light switches, it allows users to turn the existing switch into a smart switch and ensures that their smart lighting is always accessible. Whether through the app or by voice command: no more getting up from the couch to turn on the switches that a family member or guest may have turned off.

The company also announced a new version of its Wireless Dimmer Switch with a more curvy design. Instead of having four buttons as the key module it replaces, the new model has only three buttons, with the two dimmer buttons in the middle combined into a single rocker. The “call” button now also has a small tactile tag so users can find the right button in the dark.

Users can select scenes of light in the Hue app and customize the way the button works to personalize their home environment. The module includes on / off switches, dimmer controls and a button that allows users to scroll through their favorite scenes. Like the module it replaces, the new dimmer switch also includes a removable remote control.

In addition, Philips Hue has launched a new external lighting system: Amarant is an ambient LED strip for use on white walls in gardens or on balconies. It has a wall washing effect with a vibrant light that is enhanced by the metal shield. Amarant also integrates with existing low voltage Hue products, such as Hue Lily, Hue Calla or Hue Outdoor Lightstrip. Philips Hue is also updating its Appear outdoor wall light with brushed stainless steel finish and easier installation.

There are no prices in the U.S. for Appear yet, but the new wall module will be available in the summer for $ 40, the new dimmer switch will be available for $ 24.99 from February 23, and Amarant will cost $ 169.99 and will be available from March 2nd.
