The Flyers hope they won’t become the injured walking when they go to Boston.
In their fourth game of the season, the Flyers on Tuesday night at the Wells Fargo Center saw two more players injured.
Defender Philippe Myers did not leave with the Flyers for the second period. Just over two minutes from the opening game, Myers joined Sabers defender Jake McCabe in a check. Myers was the last on the ice right after the game, but did not return to the bench after the first break.
Morgan Frost, who joined the squad on Monday for the injured Sean Couturier (costochondral separation), skated on curved ice with less than five minutes remaining in the second half. Flyers’ director of sports medicine, Jim McCrossin, attended the 21-year-old youth center as he slowly climbed the tunnel to the locker room, remaining stooped. Frost took a strange blow from McCabe behind the Sabers’ net before leaving.
Myers and Frost did not return to the game. After his team’s 3-0 victory, Vigneault said the two players will undergo MRI scans and that the Flyers will know more about their status on Wednesday.
Shayne Gostisbehere missed the Flyers’ first four games because of the COVID protocol. Mark Friedman is the eighth defender of the Flyers and may have his number called up in Boston. Connor Bunnaman is currently the Flyers’ extra striker and could fill in the center if necessary.
The Flyers fly to Boston on Wednesday to play against the Bruins on Thursday and Saturday.
