Indianapolis Colts quarterback Philip Rivers was thrilled to talk to reporters after the team’s painful loss to Buffalo Bills in the AFC playoffs on Saturday.
Rivers, who could have played his last game in the NFL, was interrupted in the final race of the game. Buffalo defeated Indianapolis 27-24.

Reflecting on the difficulties of navigating a new team along with the dangers of the coronavirus pandemic, Rivers began to choke.
“It’s a very nice team, I know you heard me say that. I think that under these circumstances, I know personally for me, developing the kind of bond and camaraderie that we had was very special,” said Rivers. “You know, all the protocols. And not being here until August … It was hell to be part of a team. It’s certainly disappointing to end like this when you just believe it’s the year.”

Rivers went 27-to-36 with 309 passing yards and two touchdown passes. One was for Jack Doyle and the other was for Zach Pascal. Michael Pittman Jr. led Colts’ recipients with five receptions in 90 yards.
Rivers, 39, ends his 17th season in the NFL and it is unclear what he will do next, as speculation has increased over the course of the season.
In his career, Rivers has 63,440 passing yards and 421 passing touchdowns. He is ranked in the top five defenders in both statistical categories. He played 11 career playoff games, but only made the AFC Championship once, losing to the New England Patriots during the 2007 season.
