Philadelphia Eagles to attend Trevor Lawrence’s Pro Day

Crazy things happen during the NFL draft and although Clemson’s quarterback Trevor Lawrence is due to move to No. 1 overall for Jacksonville, the Eagles are doing their due diligence on the All-American.

Sports Illustrated is reporting that only seven teams will attend scouts at Lawrence’s next Pro Day training session on Friday, and the Eagles will be one of them, in addition to the Jaguars, Jets, Dolphins, Falcons, Broncos and Panthers.

The expected # 1 choice will work based on a 50-shot script that will show your ability to play under the center and out of the action, and emphasize your pocket movement and proficiency by playing in motion, from screen passes to deep shots. Lawrence did not have the race that most defenders have before a professional day, because of the timing of it all, but he and Lawrence got two weeks of work in Orange County, and had a rehearsal on Wednesday in South Carolina.

And although Jaguars is probably the only team that needs to be present – I’m told that the new Jacksonville coach, Urban Meyer, is accredited for the event and should be there – at least seven of the teams chosen from the top 10 are scheduled to appear. The Jets, Dolphins, Falcons, Eagles, Broncos and Panthers will also have batters on the ground. One of these teams told me that he felt he needed to be there, just to have a chance to see Lawrence launch and value him, just in case. (Yes I know.)

All 32 NFL teams are sure to be intrigued, and with a variety of news channels on television or broadcasting training, people will be eyeing the single quarterback in a generation.

The Eagles sending personnel to practice in person at Clemson would show that they are considering taking the quarterback at No. 6 overall and if they work closely at Lawrence, we can expect that they will also be present for Justin Fields at Ohio State or Zach Wilson at BYU.
