Philadelphia 76ers Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons are out of the All-Star Game due to contact tracking

Philadelphia 76ers teammates Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons were dropped for Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game in Atlanta, the league announced. The two had contact with a barber, who has since tested positive for the coronavirus, sources told ESPN.

The barber, located in the Philadelphia area, tested positive after undergoing additional tests on Sunday because of an inconclusive positive test, the sources said.

Embiid is on Team Durant, while Simmons is on Team LeBron.

Embiid and Simmons traveled to Atlanta on Saturday night on private planes and remained in quarantine, which was the protocol for all All-Star participants. The NBA feared an outbreak involving the best players in the league in Atlanta and took significant precautions to isolate players entering and leaving Atlanta for the game.
