Hawkeye became the bloodthirsty vigilante Ronin in Avengers Endgame, but Phase 4 will mentor him to the next generation of MCU heroes.
Despite the passing of Clint Barton as the bloodthirsty watchman Ronin in Avengers: Endgame, he will return as a mentor figure for Kate Bishop in the Marvel Phase 4 Disney + series Hawkeye. Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton was the first hero that SHIELD recruited after Captain America was created. Clint spared Natasha Romanoff’s life before recruiting her and nearly neutralized Thor when the god was banished to Earth. Although Hawkeye’s abilities are trivial compared to the other Avengers, he still managed to fight side by side with the most powerful beings in the universe several times.

When the Avengers failed to stop Thanos from decimating the universe, Hawkeye was one of the heroes who took the worst hit. He came out of retirement to help Steve Rogers in Captain America Civil War and got house arrest as a result. He then took the opportunity to enjoy his long-awaited retirement with his family, but all of his loved ones disintegrated around him after Thanos’s death. Clint was overcome with a desire for revenge and traveled to Japan to become Ronin, a bloodthirsty murderer who did justice with his bare hands. Soon, he returned to help the Avengers defeat Thanos, but not before sacrificing Natasha to reach him.
Clint Barton deserves to leave the cases of superheroes to the past and live a peaceful life, but Natasha Romanoff died before his eyes to save the universe. Hawkeye would not allow his sacrifice to be wasted at a time when Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and the Black Widow were not there to help, much less when a new generation of heroes came to replace them. Ant-Man and Wasp: Quantumania it may be the beginning of the Young Avengers, and Clint may play a crucial role in his training during Phase 4. It will start with him training Kate Bishop, who takes over as the new Hawk of the comics, in his Disney + series.
In the comics, Hawkeye’s protégé, Kate Bishop, pursued her position in the Young Avengers. Like Clint Barton, she did not obtain her abilities from a mutant gene or a strange accident, but through sheer skill and disciplined training. What if Hawkeye following the source material, Clint would be forced to tutor her not only because of her persistence, but also because she feels responsible as an established hero. Although SHIELD disappeared, it was Nick Fury who recruited Clint Barton and protected his family while he worked for the organization. Clint’s last job at the MCU could be to pay back and seek redemption for his time as Ronin.
The launch of the multiverse and the arrival of villains like Kang (who brought Kate Bishop and the Young Avengers together in the comics) calls for support from more experienced heroes. Doctor Strange will be busy guiding Wanda Maximoff in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Homecoming 3, Thor will be far away fighting Gorr, the Butcher God in Thor: love and thunder, Hulk will be helping Jennifer Walters in She-Hulk, War Machine will have to deal with the conflict of Armor Wars, and Nick Fury will be crucial to Secret Invasion. The least Clint Barton can do is stay active and offer his support to the new MCU heroes and Young Avengers in Phase 4.
Hawkeye suffered more than enough in the MCU. Still, your help in Phase 4 would be helpful in keeping the world safe. Avengers: Endgame it may have broken him, but what he does with that pain will determine whether he is defined by the time he spent as a hero or the crimes he committed as Ronin.
