Pharmacist accused of spoiling the COVID-19 vaccine believes it would change people’s DNA, officials say

OZAUKEE COUNTY – The pharmacist accused of intentionally spoiling nearly 600 doses of the Modern COVID-19 vaccine at a Grafton clinic made his first appearance in an Ozaukee court on Monday.

Steven Brandenburg is the pharmacist accused of intentionally damaging vaccine bottles at the Grafton Aurora Medical Center on December 24.

According to a statement of probable cause, Brandenburg removed the box containing the vaccine from the refrigerator and left it for 12 hours, rendering it useless.

Brandenburg told investigators that he believed the vaccine was not safe for people and that it “would harm and change their DNA,” said the likely cause. Brandenburg, according to the Grafton Police Department, is an “admitted conspiracy theorist”.

Brandenburg was arrested on December 31 on charges of recklessly jeopardizing security, tampering with a prescription drug and criminal damage to property.

57 people received the vaccine after it was left out, but do not believe there is any harm to health, Aurora officials said.
