PFF sends familiar name to bears in the first round of the 2021 NFL Simulated Draft

Pro Football Focus published its latest 2021 NFL Mock Draft on Monday, and sent the Bears a familiar name in 20th place overall, which would help generate an increase in offensive production almost instantly.

And no, it is not a quarterback.

Instead, PFF sends Bears USC striker Alijah Vera-Tucker.

“Vera-Tucker impressed the left guard with an overall score of 78.8 and a pass blocking score of 87.9 during the 2019 season at USC,” wrote Ben Linsey of PFF. “He followed that up last season, showing that he could do that on the left tackle with a 81.8 PFF score even better in 2020.

“His 32-inch arms are likely to put him in the guard position in the NFL, but Vera-Tucker has at least shown that he is capable of tackling if necessary. He would boost an offensive line in Chicago that requires additional talent, especially on the right. “

Vera-Tucker is a popular target for the Bears in mock drafts. He is the second most ridiculed player for Chicago, according to the NFL Mock Draft Database, and he would be a choice that would make a lot of sense.

The Bears have needs along the offensive line. In fact, it has become something of an annual crime problem. Even when the offensive line seems defined, something goes wrong. Injuries, bad play … something.

Not only would Vera-Tucker not only be the most talented (or close to) Bears striker, he would also be one of the most versatile. He can play outside or inside; wherever Chicago needs it, it can start. This is a big plus for any potential customer’s draft stock and is a big reason he is likely to get off the board before the Bears are on schedule.
