The Pfeiffer University volleyball team rolled over NC Wesleyan, taking a pair of wins 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Rocky Mount.
Pfeiffer (4-1, 2-1 USA-South) swept both games over NC Wesleyan (0-5, 0-3) with results of 3-0 (25-26, 28-26, 25-21) and 3 – 0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-23).
In the first match, former Gray Stone Day standout Mattie Burris (Misenheimer, NC) led the way, returning a .353 batting percentage while pursuing one of the team’s top 10 kills in victory. It also had a soil block and three excavations.
Freshman Jessica Leshko (Apex, NC) and Kira Suttles (Morganton, NC) shared the duties on the lifter, with Leshko providing 18 assists and Suttles delivering 14. Emma Gray Beacham (Laurinburg, NC) had a team of 21 hitting the game 1.
In the second match of the afternoon, Reagan Wyatt (Stoneville, NC) had the best team of 12 kills, while posting a percentage of 0.611 hitting. Junior Alonna Clouse (Harrisburg, NC) also killed nine. Leshko and Suttles once again shared the duties on the lifter, with Leshko having 22 assists against Suttles’ 17.
The Falcons will return home to The Village on Saturday, March 20, for a couple of matches with Greensboro College. The first game, a scheduled South American game, will start at 10 am at the Merner Gym, with the second game starting at approximately noon.
