PewDiePie wins award for having the most beautiful face, beats BTS

Based on a national celebrity list, PewDiePie ranks first for having the most beautiful face of 2020, annoying the BTS fan base.

In a shockingly controversial choice, the YouTuber PewDiePie on the internet won first place in the category “The most beautiful face of 2020”. The list was created by the publication “TC Candler & The Independent Critics”, which has been creating this list in magazines since 1990, only recently making the transition to YouTube as well.

The list is made up of male megastars, young celebrities and rising stars from a wide variety of platforms around the globe, such as Timothee Chalamet and Henry Cavill. The aim of the list is to inform the public and show modern ideals of world beauty. In total, there were more than one million public nominations that had to be counted among 135,000 celebrities, down to 100 final nominations.

Of all the celebrities, many fans were ecstatic to see that PewDiePie received the first position among several actors and musicians, congratulating him with fan art tweets and memes. However, many other fan bases were upset because PewDiePie was placed in a position superior to his personal favorites, specifically members of the popular Korean boyband BTS.

With 8 billion impressions on social media and around 2 billion likes, many people add a lot of credibility to the TC Candler & The Independent Critic list. Then, after PewDiePie received his Hall of Fame nomination, he started to become a trend on social media platforms out of respect for fans or disgust for enemies. But, as the old saying goes, there is no negative publicity.

Many fans who have paid attention to PewDiePie’s position on the previous lists should not be surprised. PewDiePie moved up from 18th place in 2016 to 4th place in 2018 and finally second place last year, just below K-pop star Jungkook. Unfortunately, that didn’t stop K-pop fans from going to Twitter and showing photos side by side of BTS members, saying how they thought the list was rigged. Some even demanded that TC Candler & The Independent Critics do a recount of the votes.

Most BTS boyband singers were put on the list, with popular vocalist Kim Tae-Hyung coming in second, just below PewDiePie. Many BTS fans may see this as an honor, as many of the members are widely loved, as many other notable celebrities have not even made the list. If anything, this award does not deserve cyberbullying against either party for any reason. Hopefully, PewDiePie accepts this award graciously, and people can learn to be happy for it.
