Fans upset about the resignation of The Mandalorian’s Cara Dune actor, Gina Carano, are pleading with Disney and Lucasfilm to rehire her with a petition.
Fans launched a petition to The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm with the aim of getting Gina Carano to be rehired as Cara Dune at Disney + Star Wars Series The Mandalorian.
The Change.org petition – which had nearly 20,000 signatures at the time this book was written – attributes Carano’s resignation to “canceling culture and Twitter”, noting that “firing celebrities because of their political views has happened with a lot of often and again, Hollywood took another conservative down. What she said may have been a little extreme, and I can even see why some people were offended, but her tweet was not meant to incite violence or express discrimination or hatred of any like any particular group. “

Shortly afterwards, Lucasfilm issued a statement, saying: “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. However, her social media posts denigrate people based on their cultural identities and religious are disgusting and unacceptable. “
