Seahawks safety Jamal Adams had to escape Sunday’s victory over the 49ers with a shoulder injury and did not return.

Coach Pete Carroll said after the competition that the first indications were that Adams would be able to play in the wild-card encounter with Rams. But in a radio interview on Monday at KIRO, Carroll didn’t seem quite sure.

“I didn’t see him today,” said Carroll, through ESPN’s Brady Henderson. “He is really disappointed. He wants to play and he wants to go around. He didn’t make the playoffs and he wants to be a part of that and everything, so he kind of crushed him. He’s very emotional and everything, and he’s going to deal with it. let’s see what happens today and the next few days, see how he feels and everything. But he got hurt and realized, he wanted to go back. We had to remove his helmet and all that on the side because he wanted to fight with the crowd. Then we’ll see what happens. I can’t tell you right now. I do not know.”

Adams set a defensive quarterback record with 9.5 sacks in 2020. He also recorded three defended passes, a forced fumble and 11 defeats tackles.
