Pete Carroll expects Mike Iupati and Brandon Shell back, uncertain about Jamal Adams and Jarran Reed

The Seattle Seahawks are not so devastated to enter the playoffs compared to last season, but they are not out of the woods for the key players.

Jarran Reed and Jamal Adams failed to end Sunday’s victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Reed had been dealing with a chest injury for several weeks, while Adams injured his left shoulder on a Jerick McKinnon chip block. This is not the same shoulder he injured earlier in the year, and Adams was visibly frustrated on the sides.

For good news, left guard Mike Iupati and right back Brandon Shell are expected to return to Saturday’s Wild Card game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Iupati has been dealing with a neck problem while Shell was on the COVID-19 reserve list, but only because he was a close contact with someone with a positive test. Shell itself has repeatedly tested negative.

If the two could go, this would be the first time since the New York Jets game that the initial offensive line group would be together. Still, Shell left just before the break, after aggravating his sprained ankle again. Seattle’s best Brown-Iupati-Pocic-Lewis-Shell combination played just five games together.

As for Reed and Adams … we remain uncertain.

Welp.
