Pete Carroll blocked Russell Wilson’s trade after a massive Bears offer

The Bears made an unsurprising signing by bringing quarterback Andy Dalton into a one-year, $ 10 million deal, but it wasn’t until they almost closed a successful deal for disaffected Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

GM Ryan Pace of the Bears and GM John Schneider of the Seahawks met in Fargo, North Dakota, to discuss a possible sales success for the future QB Hall of Fame, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. However, after the Bears made an offer and the Seahawks slept on it, coach Pete Carroll launched himself and canceled the exchange.

Rapoport said the deal includes “several choices in the first round”. At the “Dan Patrick Show”, the host revealed more details about what the offer was supposed to be: three choices in the first round, one in the third round and two entries, according to a source, although it was unclear who those entries were.

It was not until the Seahawks decided that they would not negotiate with Wilson that the Bears agreed to Dalton’s terms. Chicago also tried to sign with Jameis Winston, but he ended up signing again with the Saints on a $ 12 million contract for a year.

On ESPN, Adam Schefter theorized that, although the Seahawks were not willing to negotiate with Wilson at this time, a negotiation in the future is not necessarily out of the question. He also proposed the possibility that signing with Dalton could be a stepping stone to acquiring Wilson, after all.

“Remember this: the Seattle Seahawks also liked Andy Dalton when he was leaving the draft (in 2011),” said Schefter. “So if the Seahawks change their minds, maybe Andy Dalton can be an important part of that exchange.”
