Charleston, SC – Because a tornado alert was issued for the Charleston area, PETA is sharing tips to keep animals safe.

  • Animals should never be left chained or trapped outside, where they cannot escape strong winds, flying debris and collapsing structures. The dogs were sucked into the air – the dog house and everything – during the tornadoes, so the animals must be brought inside safely.
  • Tutors you must also bring animals with them if it is necessary to move to a stronger structure or to take shelter underground.
  • Anyone who sees animals in distress and is unable to help should note the location of the animals and alert the authorities immediately.
