A Pennsylvania police officer was charged with his role in the Capitol riots after allegedly posting a video of himself running against a line of police. Joseph Fischer, a patrolman with the North Cornwall Township Police Department, is facing several charges, including obstruction of law enforcement during civil unrest, for his role in the Jan. 6 siege. The council issued a statement on Friday that Fischer was arrested by the FBI on Friday and was suspended without pay.
According to a criminal complaint, the day after the riots, Fischer posted a video on Facebook of himself attacking a line of police officers while shouting “hold the line” and “motherfuckers”. Prosecutors claim that Fisher also had a physical altercation with at least one officer before he fell to the ground – before he finally managed to enter the Capitol.
In a private message on Facebook on January 7, Fisher also revealed that “you may need a job [after] the rumor went that I was at the rally … lol “, says the complaint. “[T]The FBI can arrest me … lol, ”wrote Fischer. “I know that they target the policemen that were.” Later in the conversation, Fisher admitted that he spoke to his chief of police about watching the riot – saying that he told his chief that losing his job may be the “price I have to pay to express my freedom and freedoms I was born with, therefore taken away. “” I told him I don’t regret it and I don’t give a damn, “Fischer wrote in the Facebook message.” Sometimes doing the right thing, no matter how small, is more important than own security. ”
