Federal prosecutors said the video footage shows Joseph Fischer, 55, running in a police line outside the Capitol and shouting, “Charge!” A North Cornwall Township Police Department patrolman, Fisher reportedly shouted “sons of bitches” when he clashed with police on January 6.
During the fight, Fischer allegedly tried to help a policeman who fell and said, “I am a policeman, I am a policeman”, according to images from the police body camera described by prosecutors in court cases.
The day after the attack, Fischer reportedly sent a private message to an associate saying, “I may need a job” because “(w) ord knew I was at the rally .. lol.” In the messages, Fischer said he was confronted by his chief of police, but said he “does not regret it and does not give a damn”.
“The FBI can arrest me … lol,” Fischer told the associate, according to court documents.
Fischer was charged with four federal crimes: obstruction of law enforcement, illegal entry into a restricted building, obstruction of Congress and violent conduct on Capitol Hill.
Fischer’s lawyer was not listed in the court case Friday night.
At least 230 people were indicted by the Department of Justice in the attack on the Capitol.
