Penn State Wrestling pauses team activities

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; January 13, 2021 – Penn State wrestling paused all team-related activities due to the positive results of COVID-19 among Level 1 personnel.

Due to the pause, the departure of the Nittany Lions in Rutgers scheduled for Saturday was postponed. Institutions will work with the Big Ten Conference to identify reprogramming options. No determination has been made on how the break can affect scheduled departures after 16 January.

The health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, employees and the community in general are of the utmost importance. Therefore, as part of the protocols established by the medical team at the Big Ten Conference and Penn State Athletics and in consultation with local and national guidelines and authorities, individuals with a positive test were placed in isolation. In addition to isolation, contact tracking procedures have been implemented, which include quarantine and testing for those individuals who may have been exposed, even if asymptomatic.
