Penguins are not shot during escape 3 against 0, they lose in overtime a minute later

Guess who the Caps fans are? Capitals are not the only ones not able to convert into a 3 in 0 breakaway.

The Pittsburgh Penguins broke a gimme goal late in overtime against Boston Bruins on Tuesday. They paid for it at a qualifying point a minute later.

After a big blow from Bryan Rust took the Bruins’ puck out, Evgeni Malkin and the Penguins dropped the ice in a 3 to 0 stop. Rust, seeing two of the best players in the franchise’s history leading the break, set out for a change of turn, leaving Malkin and defender Kris Letang to convert to a 2-to-0. They didn’t.

Letang and Malkin overtook and Tuukka Rask harmlessly poked the record.

The Bruins would show Pens how this is done a minute later, when Craig Smith and David Krejci converted into a 2-0 run to win the game with 11 seconds remaining in overtime.

Clearly, the Penguins didn’t learn from Caps’ mistake last Tuesday, when Carl Hagelin, Nic Dowd and Nick Jensen failed to pass the puck through Casey DeSmith in a 3-0 run early in the second period.

The Penguins and Bruins are tied with Philediphia for second place in the Divsion East Massmutual with 9 points. They are behind the capitals of the first place by two points of classification.
