The Pittsburgh Penguins activated Sidney Crosby from the list of Absences Related to the COVID Protocol and revoked the referrals Anthony Angello and Josh Currie of the taxi squad, was announced today by general manager Ron Hextall.
Assistant coach Todd Reirden approved the COVID Protocol and is authorized to return to his normal duties tonight at the PPG Paints Arena.
Crosby, 33, is tied for leading the team in goals (7), assists (11) and points (19) in 20 games. He enters tonight’s game with more points against Philadelphia (107 points in 72 games) than any active NHL player.
Angello, 24, has played three games for Pittsburgh this season. In 11 NHL games in his career, he scored a goal. Born in Albany, New York, Angello skated two games for Wilkes-Barre / Scranton this season, in which he scored a goal, an assist and two points. In 117 AHL career games, all with WBS, Angello has 56 points (33G-23A).
Currie, 28, made his Penguins debut on Tuesday against Philadelphia, skating for 7:24 minutes. He appeared in 22 NHL games, scoring two goals, three assists for five points and a plus-2.
