“In fact, I am very concerned that there will be violence on January 6 because the president himself is encouraging this,” said Olivia Troye in an appearance on MSNBC’s “Deadline”, shared by Mediaite.
“This is what he does. He tweets, incites and makes followers and supporters behave in this way, and they believe they are being patriotic because they support the president,” he added.

Troye, who served as Pence’s internal security and counterterrorism advisor, left the government in August and has since held control of the coronavirus pandemic.
His comments come after a Washington Post report that the Harrington Hotel and Harry’s Bar, both frequent meeting points for the far-right group Proud Boys, announced they would be closed from January 4 to 6, ahead of the potential protests.
The group’s presence in the city was accompanied by violent incidents and clashes, including a stabbing in December outside Harry’s. The suspect’s affiliation is not known.
The group also dropped Black Lives Matter tracks from two historic Black churches in the city the same weekend, setting one of them on fire. The police are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime.
During the presidential campaign, then-candidate Joe Biden sharply criticized Trump for instructing the Proud Boys to “stand still” during the first presidential debate. Since then, the group has adopted the phrase as a slogan on social media.
After a series of legal challenges and attempts to nominate pro-Trump voters were put aside, supporters of the president’s attempts to overturn the election results focused on the January 6 certification as his last chance to keep the president in office. .
