He did not reveal details of the fatal accident, but noted that Peloton is “aware of only a small handful of incidents involving Tread + where children were injured”.
Recommendations to help children stay safe

Foley said Peloton recommends that its customers keep children and pets away from the equipment at all times. Before training, they must make sure the area is completely clean – and when they are finished, they must remove the safety key from the belt (which must be inserted for the machine to work) and store it out of reach.

Treadmills account for two-thirds of injuries on exercise equipment, although they represent only a quarter of exercise machines, the NIH said. The group did not disclose how many children were specifically injured by treadmills.
Peloton’s Tread +, which costs $ 4,295, features carbon steel and aluminum, as well as a motorized belt for walking or running. The company recently unveiled a low-cost treadmill for $ 2,495 that is due to be launched in late May. Both have large screens to broadcast Peloton classes
