Appointed Rear Admiral Margaret Grun Kibben to serve as chaplain to the Chamber, the first chaplain to any of the chambers of Congress.
Pelosi said in a statement Thursday that Kibben brings “decades of decorated experience in the army and in the ministry”, adding that “his integrity, experience and patriotism will serve Congress and the country well, as it minister to the needs of members”.
Kibben became active in 1986 through the United States Navy Theology Student Program, the statement says. She served as the 18th chaplain for the Marine Corps and later served as the 26th chief chaplain of the US Navy on his final active mission.

Pelosi thanked Congressman Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) And the bipartisan group of lawmakers who led the search for the new chaplain.
Kibben will replace Father Patrick J. Conroy, who took office for the first time in May 2011.
“Their service has been a spiritual and moral anchor for members, basing our institution on the values of faith and country and reminding our members of our responsibilities to our great nation and constituents,” said Pelosi. “All members wish Father Pat the best, as he enjoys his well-deserved retirement from the House.”
