Pelosi announces proposed package of rules for the next Congress

The rules package would also prohibit members from intentionally disseminating manipulated images or “fake” videos.

The package would also establish a Selected Committee on Economic Disparity and Equity in Growth and would require committees to incorporate plans on how their work in the next session would address disparities. And it would require committees to publish any amendments considered in online marking within 48 hours of consideration and would increase the availability of machine-readable versions of legislative documents.

“This proposal does not bypass the edges of ethical reform. It contains historical ideas to protect whistleblowers and prevent everything from the undue influence of offenders in the House to the spread of deepfakes in government accounts, ”said McGovern in a statement.

“This proposal also enlightens those who are struggling to make progress in America today and ensures that we remain focused on the most pressing issues facing our nation. I want to thank my colleagues, external stakeholders and all those who helped us to develop these transformative ideas ”, he added.
