The New Orleans Pelicans will step down from former South Carolina guard Sindarius Thornwell, according to The Athletic’s Will Guillory. Thornwell, who spent the first two seasons of his career with the Los Angeles Clippers and had a 2019 summer / preseason season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, spent the originally scheduled part of the 2019-20 season with the Houston Rockets G team League, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
Thornwell played 40 games and started with 26. He averaged 29 minutes, 9.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He shot 43 percent of the field, 29 percent of the three-point line and 76 percent of the free-throw line.
The Los Angeles Clippers acquired the rights to Thornwell’s draft quickly after the Milwaukee Bucks selected him in 48th place in the 2017 NBA Draft.
