Pedro Pascal to star as Joel in the video game-based HBO series ‘The Last Of Us’ – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: In one of the biggest TV castings of the year, The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal will make headline The last of us, The adaptation of HBO’s high-level series of the Sony Playstation franchise from Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann.

Based on the critically acclaimed video game The last of us, developed by Naughty Dog exclusively for PlayStation platforms, the story takes place twenty years after the destruction of modern civilization. Joel (Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (The Game of Thrones‘Bella Ramsey), a 14 year old girl, outside an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal and heartbreaking journey, as both must cross the United States and depend on each other to survive.

Joel de Pascal, plagued by past traumas and failures, must travel through an America devastated by the pandemic, while protecting a girl who represents humanity’s last hope.

This marks the return of Pascal, who has become a household name with his role as Oberyn Martell in the HBO mega hit War of Thrones.

Pascal currently stars in the extremely popular and acclaimed Disney + series The Mandalorian, who recently received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Drama Series. I heard that he must continue on Star Wars series, where it is used sparingly because of your character’s premise, although The last of us has it in the first position.

The actor recently became available for a new series, attracting several great offers from major networks and premium streamers, choosing to do The last of us.

Pascal is out starring the villain, Max Lord, in Wonder Woman 1984. THE Narcos and Kingsman: The Golden Circle star is currently in production at Judd Apatow’s The bubble for Netflix. He is represented by WME, Anonymous Content and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

Kantemir Balagov is directing the pilot episode of The last of us, a co-production with Sony Pictures Television. PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint and Naughty Dog.

Druckmann and Mazin write and are executive producers; Carolyn Strauss (Game of Thrones, Chernobyl) he is also an executive producer with Naughty Dog President Evan Wells, alongside Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan of PlayStation Productions.
