Pedro Pascal, star of “The Mandalorian” and “Wonder Woman 1984”, went to social media this week to celebrate his younger sister, Lux Pascal, who has just introduced herself to the world as a transgender.
The oldest Pascal, 45, shared the cover of the Chilean magazine Ya, with his younger sister, on Instagram on Tuesday. Beside the image, he wrote a lovely caption in Spanish, “Mi hermana, mi corazón, nuestra Lux”, which translates as “My sister, my heart, our Lux”.

Lux Pascal, an aspiring 28-year-old actress, told the magazine that her older brother has supported a family member during the changes in his life. “He was an important part of that. He is also an artist and a guide. He was one of the first people who gave me things to form an identity,” she told Ya in an interview in Spanish.
“For everyone in my family, my transition was very natural,” she said of her family’s support. “Almost something they expected to happen.”
Lux, who is studying acting at The Julliard School in New York, told the magazine that she has no problem reflecting on her past or looking at pictures of herself before her transition, which started in July 2020. “I don’t feel anxious when I see old photos of me, ”she said, adding:“ The same thing happens to me with the theater: I see someone who was doing what he liked ”.
On LGBTQ activism, she said: “We need trans activists to be good, intelligent, informed and references to speak out against transphobia, homophobia, racism”.
Pascal is coming out and his decision to do so publicly is activism in itself. According to a Harris survey cited by GLAAD, an advocacy group for LGBTQ media, only 20% of people in the United States say they personally know someone who is transgender, which makes it more important that the stories of trans people are told in the media. .
When choosing the chosen name, the youngest Pascal said that she looked at a memory of her childhood, as well as one of her favorite films.
“When I was younger, at school, they taught us the meaning of our names,” she recalls. “’Benjamin meant it, Camila meant it.’ Suddenly, they said, ‘Lucas means the one who brings the light.’ And when I was talking to my friends about my transition and they asked about my new name, that memory came to mind.
“Furthermore, one of the characters in Sofia Coppola’s ‘Virgin Suicides’ was called ‘Lux’, which is of course in Latin … I was satisfied with my childhood memory and that my previous name meant something I was looking for myself same.
