Paulina Porizkova is looking at the decline of her marriage.
The 55-year-old model married The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek in 1989 and they were divorcing when he died in 2019.
Porizkova opened her mouth about the breakup during a discussion with UBS Global Wealth Management to encourage other women not to make “the same mistake” she made by not being financially prepared.
When asked if she regretted not signing a prenuptial agreement when she married, the model said, “Uh, yes.”

The star called herself the “perfect example of a cautionary tale” because her romance with her husband “eclipsed any financial thinking”.

Porizkova remembers Ocasek thinking that a prenuptial agreement was a “bad omen” by People magazine and agreed not to sign a contract. Instead, they combined their funds.
After they split in 2018, the model still had access to the rocker’s money until he died in 2019 and she said “she couldn’t go to dinner”.

“I have two foreclosed homes and a pension, but I can’t afford to pay for anything,” recalled Porizkova. “So, obviously, things had to be sold, but until they were sold, I had nothing to live for. I literally spent a year asking my friends to buy groceries for us.
Furthermore, she felt that talking about money was “unromantic” during the early years of her romance.

“It was incredibly naive of me,” expanded Porizkova.

“I had that kind of idea that he knew everything about the world and his word was the word of God and I should just listen to what he said because obviously he had the wisdom to live that I didn’t have,” she recalled. “And he remembered [me] this from time to time, that he knows better because he is older. “

Porizkova said he feels as though the adversities he has been through are “easily preventable” and “based on my own stupidity”. She also stressed that she did not have “a bad husband” and that nothing “conspired against” her, and said that she has no one to blame but herself.
