Paul Pierce splits from ESPN after Instagram video (report)

Celtics legend and NBA analyst Paul Pierce split from ESPN according to a report by Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports.

Pierce has been an analyst for ESPN NBA Countdown for the chain since his retirement from the NBA in 2017. However, Pierce’s post on Instagram Live on Friday night, which featured exotic dancers, attracted a lot of attention on social media after his launch.

Pierce did not comment on the report directly, but he appeared to respond to the report of his departure from ESPN on Twitter on Monday night, stating, “Big news coming soon, stay tuned, make sure to smile, #Truthshallsetufree”

Pierce is a 10-time All-Star and former champion and MVP of the finals with the Celtics during his 19 NBA seasons. He is among the top 20 players of all time in NBA scoring (26,397 points), free throws made and three-point goals scored. His No. 34 has already been retired by the Celtics and Kansas Jayhawks after an All-American career in college. He has already been announced as a finalist for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in class 2021, along with Bill Russell (as head coach) and 12 other finalists.
