Paul Manafort is pardoned, tweets for the first time in four years

After being pardoned by President Trump on Wednesday night, one of Paul Manafort’s first actions was to tweet for the first time in four years. “Sir. President, my family and I humbly thank you for the presidential forgiveness you have granted me. Words cannot fully convey how grateful we are.” However, Manafort did his best, dedicating two more tweets’ lavish praise value.

President of the president’s campaign in 2016, Manafort was found guilty of tax and banking fraud and later pleaded guilty to conspiracy to obstruct justice, on charges stemming from the investigation by Special Lawyer Robert Mueller into Russian interference in the 2016 elections. In May, he was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison, but was allowed to serve at home for fear of COVID-19. Before tonight, his last tweet – sent on December 19, 2016 – read “President Donald J. Trump! Nothing more to say, except that now is the time to “Make America Great Again”!
