Paul Bettany can’t believe he spent three decades in the MCU

Paul Bettany of WandaVision entered his third decade at the MCU, and he is as surprised as anyone.

It may be surprising to realize WandaVisionin Paul Bettany is entering his third decade as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe – and Bettany himself is as surprised as anyone.

“I read this on Twitter – I couldn’t believe it was true,” said Bettany Squire. “So I checked and found out, it’s true.”

“I’m approaching 50, so it was kind of an unpleasant feeling for us,” continues the incredulous Bettany. “Three decades! What are they talking about? It turns out to be true.”

Bettany’s involvement in the MCU started with the advent of the MCU in the 2000s with 2008 Iron Man, where Bettany provided the voice of Tony Stark’s AI creation, JARVIS Bettany entered the 10’s continuing this role in 2010 Iron man 2, and then with 2012 Avengers and 2013 Iron Man 3.

The actor finally managed to appear on the screen with the introduction of Vision in 2015 Avengers: Age of Ultron. The vision was created when Tony and Bruce Banner loaded JARVIS on a synthetic android, or “synthetoid”, created by Ultron as an eventual update. Before WandaVision, Bettany’s last appearance as Vision was in 2018 Avengers: Infinity War. The character was killed by Thanos when the villain claimed the Mental Stone that fed him.

WandaVision showed that Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, appears to have later recovered Vision’s mechanical remains and somehow reconstructed it. Debuting last month, the Disney + streaming series marks Bettany entering its third decade on the MCU.
