Patriots To Sign Jalen Mills

The Patriots just don’t stop. After signing Jonnu Smith, Davon Godchaux, and Matt Judon for big business already, New England is adding another high profile player.

The Pats are signing back defensive Jalen Mills, agent Drew Rosenhaus told Adam Schefter of ESPN.com (Twitter Link) Interestingly, Rosenhaus also represents Smith and Godchaux, so clearly he and Bill Belichick have a good relationship. It is a four-year business for Mills, worth $ 24 million with $ 9 million guaranteed. The Patriots have been the most active team so far, and it’s nowhere near.

New England entered the free agency with a lot of space on the edge, and they were not willing to waste it. A choice of Eagles in the seventh round in 2016, Mills quickly established himself as a starter and was a big part of the team that defeated the Patriots in the Super Bowl LII when he started 15 games that year.

Known for his versatility, Mills has extensive experience in cornerback and security. Foot injuries limited him to just eight and nine games in 2018 and 2019, but he started again with 15 in 2020. Last year, he finished with 74 tackles, 1.5 sacks, three defended passes and an interception.
