Several 2019 draft class wide receivers stood out. Despite being a first-round choice, N’Keal Harry is not among them. But the Patriots’ start showed flashes in its abbreviated term. Their inconsistent production, however, seems to have teams wondering if the Patriots have seen enough.
The teams are calling the Pats about Harry, according to Mike Garafolo of the NFL.com (video link) There are two years left on Harry’s rookie contract, with a fifth year option decision not due until 2022. However, Harry is a little off the options radar right now.
New England selected Harry as the last choice in the first round of 2019. The 6-foot-4 Arizona State product totaled just 414 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 21 games. But he was not exactly placed in ideal circumstances.
Harry missed the first half of his debut season due to an injury and did not contribute much in Tom Bradypast few months with the franchise. The COVID-19 pandemic, keeping players away from team facilities, prevented Harry from working with Cam Newton, who did not sign until the end of June, during the off-season of 2020. Newton’s subsequent struggles limited New England’s passing game, with Harry undoubtedly contributing a little to the veteran passer ‘s problems.
If they negotiated with Harry this off-season, the Patriots would be selling very low. Neither of its two maximum beginner contract numbers exceeds $ 3.5 million. Teams will also have an abundance of recipients to choose from on a free will basis, and this draft is expected to feature another large-scale, large-scale crop. The Pats will certainly increase their current group, and it will be interesting to see where Harry will be positioned when they finish doing so.
