The elimination of privateers Roberto Aguayo is taking another chance in the NFL.

Aguayo, the kicker the Bucs switched to draft in the second round of 2016, is signing for the Patriots training squad, according to ESPN Field Yates.

The Patriots already have kicker Nick Folk in the active squad and kicker Justin Rohrwasser on the training team, so they don’t have an immediate need in position. But the Patriots are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, so this could be more about having Aguayo around for the 2021 off-season.

Aguayo was a disaster with the Buccaneers and was cut after his debut season. He then spent time with the Bears, Panthers and Chargers, but hasn’t played in a regular season game since the Bucs cut him off.

In the state of Florida, Aguayo set a college football record by going 198 to 198 with extra points. But he was not a particularly good kicker in long-field goals or college kickoffs, and he was even worse in the NFL. New England may be your last stop.
