Patrick Mahomes, one of the highest profile players in the NFL, is digging into networks with the launch of his own NFT art gallery.

In an interview with CNBC this week, Mahomes announced “The Museum of Mahomes”, which will be launched on March 17 on the MakersPlace digital art market. There are three levels of collectibles that Mahomes created with The Impossible Brief, which are two artists who include Coldplay and The Chainsmokers as customers.

The price range for collectible items ranges from $ 2,500 to $ 15,000. In addition, there will be a mysterious auction with no set price. Mahomes will donate part of the proceeds to his foundation called 15 and the Mahomies, as well as the Boys & Girls Clubs in Missouri.

“I’m trying to break down barriers and make history on and off the pitch,” said Mahomes. “This is the great advantage of being an athlete today, you have so many channels and opportunities to expand your brand and make an impact.”

The limited edition collectibles feature two distinct pieces of art: a jewel-encrusted helmet and a jewel-encrusted soccer ball. Fifty of each will be minted at a price of $ 15,000.

The open edition collectibles feature three pieces of digital art that memorize significant moments in Mahomes’ life and career. The bronze piece of art costs $ 2,500, the silver piece costs $ 5,000 and the gold piece costs $ 7,500.

The final and unique mystery piece will be announced on the day of the auction.

Five helmets and five signed T-shirts will also be donated to ten randomly selected winners who participate in the sale.

Mahomes said he is fascinated by digital products and “as blockchain auctions are growing, so when the opportunity to get into digital memorabilia came up, I grabbed it.”

Mahomes, who at 25 is already an NFL star, led the Chiefs to his first Super Bowl title in 50 years last year, played more touchdowns than any quarterback in NFL history in his first ten career games and was awarded with the title of most valuable NFL Player in 2018.

Now, he also intends to be at the forefront of the cryptographic world.

“I always want to know if I did my best in everything I do, so it definitely makes me want to succeed,” said Mahomes.

He is the second professional athlete to emerge in the world of NFTs. Rob Gronkowski of Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced this week that he would launch his own exclusive collection of NFT stickers.

NFT stands for non-fungible token and is essentially a certificate of authenticity for a unique digital memorabilia that cannot be duplicated. The memorabilia is stored on a blockchain network.

Even musicians are getting into the crypto craze. Kings of Leon became the first band to release a new album as an NFT. And artists like Shawn Mendes, Steve Aoki and Grimes recently launched exclusive digital products on the blockchain network. On Wednesday, a digital work by the artist Beeple was sold for more than $ 69 million at an auction by Christie’s.

“Mahomes is a true rebel and pioneer for being the first superstar athlete to position himself in this space,” said Sean Treacy, the NFT producer. “Their attention to detail and innovation is second to none. I think the community will immediately recognize how unique and special this NFT is.”

Mahomes told CNBC that he plans to donate part of the proceeds to finish the “15 and the Mahomies Foundation” playground at MLK Park in Kansas City. He will also make a donation to 40 Boys & Girls Clubs in Missouri.

The Mahomes Museum auction for collectibles launches at MakersPlace.com a digital market for encrypted collectibles.
