Patrick Mahomes is ready to start.
The Super Bowl MVP LIV told reporters on Friday that he has passed the last phase of the concussion protocol and will be able to play in the AFC Championship against Buffalo Bills.
Mahomes was forced to leave the Kansas Chiefs divisional round game against the Cleveland Browns shortly after hitting his head on the ground in a tackle. He was helped by his teammates, but he didn’t seem to know he was at Arrowhead Stadium playing a playoff game.

He was last seen returning to the locker room on his own, but he didn’t. Chad Henne came into play and intercepted badly, giving the Browns some hope. However, Henne would redeem himself later in the game with a brave run and a final game conclusion.

Chiefs ‘coach Andy Reid told reporters earlier in the day that Mahomes needed only the authorization of an independent neurological consultant and the Chiefs’ doctor.
Mahomes practiced all week and did the repetitions, but he couldn’t do much more because he was in accordance with the protocol.
Bills coach Sean McDermott told reporters that the team is preparing as if Mahomes is going to play.
“I think at the beginning of the week we weren’t sure and we really won’t know, I think,” he said. “It’s probably trending in that direction, so that’s what we’re anticipating.”
