Patents reveal how it could beat Rockstar

Grand Theft Auto 6’s rival, Everywhere, has been a mystery for years, but a lot of patents have just revealed how their gameplay can be.

The mysterious Everywhere could give Rockstar Games the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 a run for your money. The title is being developed by independent studio Build A Rocket Boy Games, directed by former Rockstar employees. Its most notable member is the former president of Rockstar North, Leslie Benzies, who founded the studio after a public disagreement with Rockstar in 2016. Benzies and his team closely kept all information about their Everywhere games for years, but the company may have already revealed the first detailed glimpse of what GTA 6 rival Everywherethe gameplay may seem.

The Benzies studio received two patents from the World Intellectual Property Organization in 2020. Both explained the main world-building methods and gameplay design that Build A Rocket Boy will apparently use to create Everywhere. Although the documents do not have any specific identifiers of where the game will be set or what its plot will be, there is enough about the world and its functions to believe that it can be ambitious enough for the better. GTA 6.

The patents, “System and method for providing a computer-generated environment“and”Multiplayer Game, “were published by WIPO on February 2, 2020 and December 24, 2020, respectively. Redditor NestorSite and a group of other curious fans dug up the documents in late January 2021 and summarized their implications for the Build A Rocket Boy subreddit. it looks like the developer wants Everywhere be more than just a game; it could be a virtual platform for endless single and multiplayer experiences.

Remember that patents are not a perfect reflection of what companies are developing. Benzies and his team could use the techniques in these documents for a completely separate project – or discard them entirely. However, given how secretive the company has been about Everywhere In the past, this is the most comprehensive look at the inner workings of Build A Rocket Boy that has ever been discovered. EverywhereThe release date may still take years, but here’s everything the patents have revealed about the next game.

Patents everywhere: a virtual world

To begin with, it seems Everywhere it will consist of two separate worlds. The first is an overworld, where players can get together with friends, shop and explore digital environments on foot or in vehicles. So there are many – potentially infinite – smaller worlds that allow players to play games like Battle Royales or watch digital media on services like Netflix. Think of it as Super Mario 64, where Princess Peach Castle consists of other levels accessible through paintings.

In this theoretical Everywhere worldwide, players could enter stores that contain everything from in-game cosmetics to virtual representations of real-world objects. The patent uses an example of a bicycle or a car that can be interacted with in the outside world and then bought inside Everywhere and even in real life. It does not explain how this would work, for example, through any specific retail partnerships, but it appears that players may be able to purchase both their avatar and themselves.

This feature, and a handful of other features similar to virtual reality, suggests Everywhere it may be an VR experience, but this has not been confirmed at this time. There has been speculation that Everywhere can be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X / S. However, Benzies also owns a company called VR-Chitect Limited, which develops VR hardware and software, according to The scotsman.

The upper world seems to reflect the real world, and there will be no comprehensive story or plot that dominates this area of Everywhere. Instead, it looks more like a vast lobby that players can inhabit before embarking on their own adventures. Benzies did something like that in a 2017 interview with Polygon, saying, “We want this game to be less restrictive than other games. Although the game has multiple narratives, we also want players to create their own narratives that include characters with a real personality. “So, where will players find Everywheremore traditional gaming experiences?

Patents Everywhere: In-Game Games

Upon entering one of those figurative paintings inside the Peach Castle – whether entering a building or putting on a pair of glasses in the game – it looks like players will be transported to a completely different game mode. Patents specify only one type of game that can be found within Everywhere, but the documents make it look like players can even create their own environments, like a high-tech environment Minecraft. Whenever players enter one of these alternate worlds, their avatar in the upper world will appear busy.

Patents only vaguely refer to a bizarre Battle Royale game mode, where music and rhythm play an important role. When players enter the game, they are placed in teams and can choose from a music library that will have a unique impact on the virtual environment around them and their avatar’s capabilities. For example, music can affect the speed at which players move, the weather within the game, and the type of serve found in the game.

The descriptions for this real rhythmic battle are indistinct, but it seems Everywhere will serve as a hodgepodge of virtual content for any user to access. Friends around the world can enter a private room to play a game of virtual basketball, or users can play video games by accessing them through the upper world, as free sensations to play Fifteen days or Between us. The possibilities are endless based on what Build A Rocket Boy has defined so far, but its Everywhere concepts can also be too ambitious to come true. Still, one thing is certain: Benzies want to create much more than just a GTA 6 competitor.

While Grand Theft Auto 6 it’s rumored to span multiple cities and destroy the scope of other Rockstar releases, EverywhereThe patents do not make it look like an open world RPG at all. Instead, it looks like a kind of social media platform or an attempt to create the Metaverse of Neal Stephenson’s 1992 science fiction novel, Snow fall – a parallel digital world in which people can enter to live their fantasies.
