A champagne company in which DrakeThe company says it was screwed by a distributor who is treating its luxury product as a cheap drink … and thinks “racial prejudice” is involved.
Mod Selection is suing the retail store Total Wine & More for allegedly conspiring with distributor Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits to destroy the brand … and claims that the distributor was totally racist when it came to marketing the champagne.
According to the documents, Mod struck a deal with Southern in 2018, but says the distributor failed to market high-quality champagne the right way … and it all comes down to the famous rapper.
Drake – who is not suing or being sued, but is described in the process as an investor and ambassador for the Mod Selection brand – was holding a bottle of it on stage in 2019 when he received the Billboard Music Award for Best Male Artist.
In the documents … Mod says that Drake allowed the company to use his name, image and likeness to promote and market his champagne, but Mod claims that Southern Glazer damaged that relationship when he “repeatedly subjected [Drake] intimidating and dismissive treatment. “
Mod claims that Drake considered this treatment to be motivated by “racial intolerance” … and says he was also angry with Mod as a “black” or “rapper” champagne … suggesting racial insensitivity. Mod’s lawyers have told us that they have messages from Drake calling Southern.

All of this prompted Southern to close its deal with Mod in 2019, but Mod claims the distributor twisted the knife one last time … by dumping its remaining Mod supply in Total Wine & More stores for just $ 49-149 per bottle – – when it should be sold for $ 300-400.
Drake’s lawyer, Larry Stein, says he doesn’t know if Drake sent angry text messages to Mod Selection – but says he was involved in all the negotiations and had no idea that Mod was filing the lawsuit.
He adds, Drake is not involved in the process, and at no time did Drake or his team raise any issue of racial prejudice.
