CBS News is premiering a special about Woody Allen that will feature an exclusive and unprecedented interview with the filmmaker last year, after the publication of his memoirs, as well as the CBS This Morning interview with Dylan Farrow, who accused him of sexual abuse when she was a child.
Allen denied the charges, but addressed them in the interview with Lee Cowan of CBS News. It was conducted in July, before HBO broadcast its documentary, Allen v. Farrow.
The special will be presented by CBS Sunday Morning and will debut on Sunday.
CBS News did not broadcast the interview in July due to other urgent news last summer, but it also wanted to have more time to determine how to create a more comprehensive package around it. Farrow sat down in 2018 with CBS This Morning in which she detailed her accusations against Allen, and denied having been trained to claim that she was abused. Allen was not charged with any crime.
The network said the interview was the longest with Allen in nearly 30 years.

The interview, which took place last summer during an active news cycle, is now being presented due to renewed interest in the controversy surrounding the filmmaker. The special will also feature an article by Erin Moriarty about controversial artists and how they and their work are viewed when facing charges.
