The renewed service, which is currently known as CBS All Access, will launch in the United States and Latin America with a large amount of content from the company’s largest brands. This includes more than 20,000 episodes and films from Paramount Pictures, CBS, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, BET and MTV, as well as live programming such as sports and news.
It is not clear how much Paramount + will cost. CBS All Access, which currently costs $ 5.99 a month with ads and $ 9.99 without, has been available since 2014 – long before the launch of competitors like Disney +, NBCUniversal’s Peacock and HBO Max, which belongs to the company CNN’s parent company WarnerMedia.
ViacomCBS hopes that a new name, as well as a ton of content from one of Hollywood’s most iconic studios, will give Paramount + the boost it needs to compete in streaming wars.
Paramount + will feature popular series from CBS All Access, including “The Twilight Zone” and “Star Trek: Picard”.
But it will also include original programs like “The Offer”, a limited series with a script on the making of “The Godfather”; a revival of BET’s “The Game”; and a series of documentaries on real crimes called “The Real Criminal Minds”, based on the CBS TV series.
And nowadays, it looks like it wouldn’t be a real streaming service without children’s programming.
ViacomCBS will fill its catalog of children’s content through its family network Nickelodeon, with series like “Kamp Koral”, a new program of “SpongeBob SquarePants”, next to “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run”, which will be exclusive to Paramount + subscribers early next year.
