It is a good thing that there is plenty of space in outer space. The Star Trek universe will be expanding with two new series exclusive to the Paramount Plus streaming service.

On Wednesday, ViacomCBS sparked the new programs during a Paramount Plus Investor Day detailing the next service. A spin-off series called Star Trek: strange new worlds will follow the ongoing adventures of Captain Pike and Mr. Spock, characters who appeared on the original 1960s show and Discovery (with different actors). Star Trek: Prodigy, an animated series from Trek aimed at a younger audience, will arrive at Paramount Plus before going to Nickelodeon.

CBS All Access was home to a new crop of Star Trek series that debuted in recent years, including the flagship Star Trek: Discovery, the nostalgic Star Trek: Picard and the excited Star Trek: Lower Decks. CBS All Access offerings will now be incorporated into the new Paramount Plus service.

Paramount Plus looks like it will rely heavily on its famous science fiction franchise, just as CBS All Access did.
